Mark 12:31-32

Mark 12:31-32 - 'And you shall love the LORD our God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' That is the first commandment. "And the second, like it, is this : 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."

The World Without Trees

Quote of the day - Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not. - Dr. Seuss

Ever wonder what Earth would look like if it is without trees?

Nope, definitely not going to be like this. You can still find trees in the picture!

I wonder how many people would actually spend some time thinking about the above question, and if you do I bet that we will reach the same conclusion that is, our Earth/life would be in bad bad shape without trees. The truth is, trees ensure us with ample supply of oxygen and at the same time decrease the amount of world carbon dioxide, and they do it for free.

The next question is, how many of us actually did take a though about this problem? Trees are being chopped down like they should not be there in the first place. Instead, buildings are being build to replace the trees, all thanks to the greed of human being.

To the riches and powerful, do you ever think about how your descendent will be doing with you chopping down the trees, whether directly or indirectly to feed your greed for money? They, and a lot of innocent people will suffers because of this selfish act. I did not mean that development should be stopped for the sake of the trees. The question is, what is the "tree replanting plan" (or whatever they are called)? This world is so messed up with people that is money driven. I bet if trees were to start growing golden fruits today, then we will have a lot of Amazon-like land all over the world. But no, that is not going to happen, and we all know that.

But yet, the importance of trees is still there without doubts. Its good that environmentalist is doing things about this issue, but the people who really need to do something about it should be the one with authorities. Some countries had their own respective "tree replanting plan" which is a good thing, but not every countries are putting effort in conserving our trees (all talk but no action?). What is obviously known to everyone is that the trees are being chopped down at a rate far faster than it can be regenerated. We can put it in another way, oxygen is produced far slower than the amount of carbon dioxide released, because lesser trees means lesser carbon dioxide absorbed to produce oxygen. As simple as that!

Its random that I am writing about this today, but the movie session with my little brother last weekend prompts me to think about this issue which results in me writing this post. Heard/watched this movie, "The Lorax"? The movie plot is not that great (in my own opinion, probably too much of singing and lacking of action), but the message it carries is absolutely true and we might just end up like how it is being portrayed in the movie.

"The Lorax" is a remake of children's book written by this amazing author, Theodor Seuss Geisel or better known as Dr. Seuss which is published way back in 1971. My brain concludes that since 1971, Dr. Seuss has already foreseen what will likely happen to Earth if we continue to chopped down the trees like nobody's business. If you have yet to watch this movie, I would encourage you to go get some friends or just go with your family, or you might just go with your date :D

The plastic town in the movie, Thneed-ville would be where we will have to, or our descendent have to live in if things is not changing the way it is now. That is the town where everything is plastic, yes even the trees are plastic with different types of color bulb, eating jello everyday and most of all, YOU.NEED.TO.BUY.OXYGEN to survive! That is if somebody can come out with a machine to produce oxygen, else people will start to suffocate one by one until no one is left on Earth.

I do not know what to concludes on this post, but I do know we have to take a serious thought about this question, and hopefully someday, somebody with power and fame will start to put pressure on the authorities to do something about this issue. Sort of like random ranting from me to change the world I guess?

Do not be surprising that one day, your grandchildren or great grandchildren start asking you, "What is a tree look like? A real tree I mean". Don't laugh, it might happen!

PS : I am not Lorex but I do speak for the trees this time.
