Gion is Kyoto's most famous geisha district filled with traditional wooden machiya merchant houses turn shops, restaurants and ochaya (teahouses) where geiko (Kyoto dialect for geisha) and maiko (geisha apprentices) entertain.

Japan Day 4 Part 2, Kyoto

Aha, and so I am back writing about my Japan trip. As a recap, continue from here.

Took bus after visiting the Imperial Palace to Kinkaku-Ji, Temple of the Golden Pavilion.

Met with a bunch of cute secondary school boys in the bus.

They stopped at where we are, so we asked for a group photo =D Ended up they went to the same place we are going, visiting Kinkaku-Ji. Looks like a class field trip for them, perhaps.

Kinkaku-ji (金閣寺, Temple of the Golden Pavilion), also known as Rokuon-ji (鹿苑寺, Deer Garden Temple) is a Zen Buddhist temple located at Kyoto, Japan. The garden complex is an excellent example that of Muromachi period garden design. This building is designed as a National Special Historic Site and a National Special Landscape, it is also one of the 17 World Cultural Heritage site in Kyoto. So you can just imagine how awesome Kyoto is, with 17 World Cultural Heritage site all squeezed in one city! Kinkaku-ji is one of the most popular building in Japan, so remember to pay her a visit if you travel to Kyoto next time!

By the way, this building is no joke, being called Temple of the Golden Pavilion, the gold you can see in the picture is well, real gold!

Japan Day 4 Part 1, Kyoto

Day 4, we headed to Kyoto from Osaka. A lot of travelling to reach there, but it is all worth it.

Took subway train to Shin Osaka for Jr Kyoto Line.
